This case shows that consent to battery during a medical procedure is only valid if the consent is given to the nature of the medical procedure that was actually carried out. Constrasted with the case of R v Richardson.


Tabassum had no medical license, but managed to convince three women for breast examination.

There was no true consent. They were consenting to touching for medical purposes not to indecent behavior, there was consent to the nature of the act but not to the quality of the act
